The Atlanta, Georgia Bio-Energy Park (AGBEP)

BG&E is in final negotiations to locate the first clean, “green” renewable energy facility within the Atlanta city limits. The Atlanta, Georgia Bio-Energy Park (AGBEP) will provide 50 Megawatts of renewable power to the residents of Atlanta for decades to come. The project will be an air blown gasifier coupled with a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) where the steam will be used to generate electricity. The feedstock for this process includes untreated wood waste, untreated sawmill residue, and herbaceous agricultural waste. It is the hope and desire of BG&E to also utilize the yard trimmings and waste collected by the City of Atlanta Department of Public Works as additional feedstock. Currently this waste is transported close to 100 miles out of state for disposal.

BG&E is currently in discussion with a number of electric service marketers and providers for the purchase of power generated at the facility.
